Partying in the Czech Republic: My weekend in Prague!

A couple of weekends ago my friend Alanna and I decided to take a trip to

Prague to live out her Last Holiday obsession. This trip was really planned last minute but we were like why not visit a new country. I honestly had very little expectations for Prague because I didn't know much about the city. Nonetheless, this city blew me away by how beautiful and lively it was.

When we landed in Prague we took an uber to our hotel which was outside of the city in a really bougie suburb. We were happily surprised to find out how cheap everything was especially our uber rides. The Czech currency, czk, is much cheaper than the US dollar. 100 czk is equivalent to $4.4. Once we got settled we went into town to explore. Not going to lie, the weather was not on our side. It was pretty cold, and I honestly wanted to stay in. We were not going to waste the day though. So we went into town found this really cute restaurant called Waf Waf that had all types of waffles and crepes. It was delicious. Then we walked around and found our way to the Castle of Prague. As we were walking, I did notice how much the city lacked diversity. The population was very homogeneous, yet very different from Milan. There were so many people who were blonde with upturned noses. As we were walking we did get a lot of stares. I'm guessing because there aren't many black women in this city that looked like us.

Castles, Chicken and Waffles, & Marching Bands

It was a trek to get to the castle, but once we made it, it was definitely worth it. The castle was so medieval, it was stunning. There were huts everywhere serving their traditional street food and desserts. It smelled amazing. The whole atmosphere of the castle reminded me of a scene from the movie Brave or any film with vikings in it. When we left the castle we walked to this shopping area and we fell in love with the city even more. The architecture was so regal and crisp. When we made it to Palladium Mall we were shook. This mall was huge and very modern. It looked better than most malls in the US. We also ran into so many Black Americans here, so this place was poppin'. After the mall we went to this restaurant/bar and ordered food and drinks. It was a really cute place, but not really our scene.

The next day we went to brunch at this restaurant called Venue. When I tell you the food here was everything... it was everything! We ordered chicken and waffles and it was the best breakfast I had in a long time. I'm talking about on Batters and Berries' level. We left that restaurant so satisfied. We spent the rest of the day walking around Old Town Market, shopping, and site seeing. What really threw us off guard was when we were leaving Zara we ran into this huge marching band performing in the middle of the road. This band was LIT! We followed them around the city and watched as everyone turned up with them. It was so fun. Later, we went to another restaurant/club that was pretty fancy. We ordered calamari and watched as everyone trickled into to club upstairs. We wanted to enjoy the club scene, but it was too EDM. We were waiting and hoping that the DJ would play some real music, but it didn't happen lol. We just people watched the whole night which was very entertaining. We left Prague the next day, but it's definitely a city worth revisiting.
